Murcia’s Nueva Condomina set for nearly 800 new homes after years of delays
Four property developers are preparing to build in 2027 as a €27.5 million infrastructure project advances, although the future of the nearby concert venue remains uncertain

Almost 800 new homes are expected to get the go-ahead for construction at Murcia’s Nueva Condomina development next year, as a long-delayed project finally starts moving towards its next chapter.
The development in Churra, next to Nueva Condomina shopping centre and the football stadium, has taken two decades to reach this stage. While the commercial facilities and stadium have been built for years, much of the planned residential area has been left waiting for the roads and infrastructure needed to make it ready for new homes.
Now, four property developers are preparing to press ahead with their plans, with a fifth company looking to join them in 2028.
The first 250 homes, part of an Aedas development, are already being marketed by property company MPC after receiving a building licence. Iberdrola Inmobiliaria is preparing another 174 apartments across two blocks, with its authorisation nearing completion. These homes are expected to be finished within two years.
Vía Célere has plans for 206 homes, while Inmotasa is proposing a further 260 across two plots. Realia is then expected to start work on another 260 properties in early 2028.
Roads, drainage and green spaces take shape
Getting the homes built depends on finishing the infrastructure around them. Work restarted on July 1, with €27.5 million being invested in the roads, drainage systems and other facilities needed to open up the development.
The existing roads and pavements are being repaired after years without proper maintenance, while new sections are being built to connect the different plots. Drainage work is nearly complete, although four additional stormwater tanks will also be installed alongside the one already in place.
Green spaces are part of the plans too. Almost 500,000 square metres have been reserved for parks and public facilities, including a future municipal forest park. Two parking areas are also being developed near the entrance to the La Alcayna residential area in Molina de Segura.
The wider site covers 2.2 million square metres and is planned to include three residential neighbourhoods, Pueblo Nuevo, Golf Este and Golf Oeste. More than 3,000 homes are still to be built across the development once the necessary infrastructure is ready.
The current urbanisation works are expected to be completed on December 30, 2027.
Dispute over concert venue continues
There is still a sticking point, though. Property developers say the Espacio Norte concert venue is harming their sales prospects, particularly because of the rubbish left behind after large events.
Operator Monkey Pro intends to continue holding concerts there throughout 2027 before moving elsewhere in 2028. The company maintains that regulations support its right to continue operating.
The developers would prefer the venue to leave sooner, while the Ayuntamiento has yet to take a firm public position. For now, the disagreement remains unresolved as preparations for the new homes continue.
