Three Murcia restaurants shortlisted for Spain's top new restaurant award

The three restaurants are among 41 restaurants shortlisted for the 2025 TheFork Awards

Three restaurants from the Region of Murcia have been shortlisted for a national award celebrating some of Spain's best new restaurants.

Pepe Juan Barra, Barra Pomelo and La Macetúa are all in the running for the 2025 TheFork Awards, which recognise restaurants that have opened recently across Spain.

The three Murcia restaurants are among 41 establishments selected for this year's awards. They were chosen by a jury of 56 Michelin-starred chefs, who picked restaurants from across the country.

Murcia is one of the regions with the highest number of restaurants on the list. Only Cataluña, with nine, the Valencia region, with six, and Madrid, with five, have more.

People can now have their say too, with voting open through TheFork until Sunday October 11. The restaurant that receives the most votes will win the People's Choice Award for the best new restaurant of 2025.

Last year's award went to The Library in Madrid.

Nine restaurants from this year's list will also become finalists, with the winners due to be announced at a ceremony at Madrid's Gran Teatro CaixaBank on Monday November 16.

The shortlist covers 20 provinces, with 41 restaurants in total. It also includes restaurants from Asturias and Extremadura for the first time.
