Power outages this week across the Region of Murcia
Iberdrola will cut electricity throughout the Region of Murcia for scheduled maintenance and repairs
Following the widespread blackout that affected much of Spain on Monday April 28, many people were reminded of just how dependent modern life is on electricity. Essential daily activities, like cooking, showering and commuting, were severely disrupted, prompting many to prepare for future outages by turning to backup energy sources, stocking up on canned goods, water and even battery-powered radios.
Although this week’s outages won’t be nearly as extensive, Iberdrola has announced that electricity will be temporarily interrupted in several areas across the Region of Murcia. These disruptions are due to scheduled maintenance and system upgrades designed to ensure a more reliable energy supply.
Below is a list of affected municipalities and the specific streets and times when power will be cut:
Abanilla
May 15, from 9am to 10am
Affected streets:
- Avenida Región de Murcia: 1, 3, 5, 9, 11, 13, 15, 17, 19
- C/ Antonio Machado: 25 PR A, 32, 34, 36, 38
- C/ Doctor José Riquelme Salar: 2–10

Important note
Iberdrola has stated that if maintenance is completed ahead of schedule, electricity may be restored earlier than expected. For safety reasons, residents are advised not to perform work on their electrical installations during these periods, as early restoration may cause injury.
