May 12 Artisan market of the Mar Menor in Santiago de la Ribera
The market is held on the seafront of the Explanada Barnuevo alongside the Mar Menor
Santiago de la Ribera in the municipality of San Javier usually hosts a bi-monthly artisan market, the Mercado Artesanal del Mar Menor, and the first such event takes place in February on the second Sunday of the month.
Around 40 stalls are open selling hand-made items from across the Region of Murcia, with a wide range of hand-crafted products, all from genuine regional artisans - as an added bonus it is in a seafront setting on the Explanada Barnuevo, making it an even more attractive proposition for a trip out followed by a coffee or a walk along the seafront.
The market is open from 10.00 until 14.00 and the stallholders on this occasion are Susana Hernández (natural cosmetics), Laura Romero (painted t-shirts), Fran Bueno (handbags), Gloria Piñol (decoration), Anna Gambín (recycled goods), Aitor Águila (decoration), Bellísima Wen (polymerized clay), Cesar Honorato (marble), Conchi Soler (borsay), Dayli Hernández (accessories), Encarna Heredia (textiles), Eulalia García (handicrafts), Fina Vidal (baby clothes), Gonzalo Martínez (pottery), Isabel Carpe (regional costumes), Luis Turiques (Colombian handicrafts), Marga García (felt), María Estefanía Turiques (textiles), Nico Nieto (engravings), Orlando Monocal (handicrafts), Rocío González (macramé jewellery) and Wilson Aguilar (South American jewellery).

There is a tourist information point located in the San Javier Airport, as well as one at kilometre 12-13 of La Manga del Mar Menor.
Due to its location on the fringes of the Mar Menor and Mediterranean, San Javier has a period of intense summer tourism activity during the peak summer months, although it is popular with retirees of all nationalities out of peak season.
Tickets for the annual San Javier Jazz Festival can be purchased at the Festival office in San Javier Town Hall, Plaza de España.
