Guidelines for submitting articles to Condado Today
Hello, and thank you for choosing CondadoToday.com to publicise your organisation’s info or event.
Condado Today is a website set up by Murcia Today specifically for residents of the urbanisation in Southwest Murcia, providing news and information on what’s happening in the local area, which is the largest English-speaking expat area in the Region of Murcia.
When submitting text to be included on Condado Today, please abide by the following guidelines so we can upload your article as swiftly as possible:

Attach the information in a Word Document or Google Doc
Include all relevant points, including:
Who is the organisation running the event?
Where is it happening?
When?
How much does it cost?
Is it necessary to book beforehand, or can people just show up on the day?
…but try not to exceed 300 words
Also attach a photo to illustrate your article, no more than 100kb
July 11 to 16 Annual fiestas of the Virgen del Carmen in Puerto de Mazarron
A maritime procession on July 16 is the highlight of the celebrations of the patron of fishermen
As a town which traditionally relied on its fishing fleet for prosperity, at least until the onset of mass tourism in the second half of the last century, Puerto de Mazarrón to hold the Virgen del Carmen (Our Lady of Mount Carmel), the patron of fishermen and seafarers in general, in especially high esteem, and her Feast Day on 16th July is still celebrated every summer.
One of the highlights of the summer for many is the maritime procession held on the feast day, when the small boat carrying the figure of the Virgin is accompanied across the bay towards Isla Plana and La Azohía by a flotilla of sailors joining in the event.
The full schedule for the 2025 celebrations is as follows:
Friday July 11
20.30: Mass in the church of San José in Puerto de Mazarrón.
21.30: The opening speech of the festivities is given by Paqui Ballesta Acosta, also at the church.
Saturday July 12
22.00: Dance performance by members of the Ana Ruiz dance school in the Plaza Campeón Pedro Acosta (by the new marina).
Sunday July 13
21.45: Free activities for children in the Plaza Campeón Pedro Acosta.
Monday July 14
17.00: A cultural visit to the market in the fishing port (the “lonja”), registration and further information at the tourist office on 968 594426.
22.00: A screening of “Vaya Vacaciones” at the outdoor summer cinema at Playa de la Isla.
Tuesday July 15
18.30: Guided tour of the Roman fish salting factory museum, registration online here, further information from the tourist office on 968 594426.
18.30 to 21.30: Flowers on sale in the Plaza Campeón Pedro Acosta to collect money for the Cáritas charity.
21.30: Traditional music from the Rondalla de Mazarrón and the Roco Rociero Azahares de Puerto de Mazarrón in the Plaza Campeón Pedro Acosta.
Wednesday July 16
9.30: Holy Mass in the church of San José in Puerto de Mazarrón.
10.15: The figure of the Virgen del Carmen is taken to the fishing port market (“lonja”).
10.00 to 12.00: Floral offering for the Cáritas charity at the Cofradía de Pescadores on the seafront esplanade.
18.00: Holy Mass is followed by the maritime procession as the figure of the Virgin, who is taken on board a boat across the bay of Mazarrón.
20.00: Another procession, this time on land, from the Lonja to back to the church of San José.
