Colina del Emperador boutique hotel in La Manga del Mar Menor
A stylish, friendly and truly unique hotel situated in the heart of La Manga
Colina del Emperador is a unique hotel experience situated in the heart of La Manga, bathed on one side by the Mediterranean Sea and on the other by the Mar Menor, Europe’s largest saltwater lagoon and one of Spain’s most prized natural landmarks. The extensively renovated villa offers unbeatable views and the ultimate in style and comfort close to La Manga’s bustling strip and the captivating Puerto Tomás Maestre marina.
For guests who are looking to kick back and relax, Colina del Emperador has a large outdoor terrace complete with sun beds and shady seating areas, the perfect vantage point to marvel at the sunrise and sunset in a setting that feels more like a private luxury resort.
If you fancy a dip to cool off, the outdoor saltwater chlorinated pool is ideal for a leisurely swim, or visitors can switch on the counter-current system for a more vigorous workout.
The boutique hotel is the brainchild of Therese and Gisle Keiseraas, like-minded entrepreneurs with a shared passion for travel and exploring. After 25 years in the lift industry and the technology industry, respectively, the adventurous pair fell in love with La Manga and realised their dream of opening their bespoke tourist accommodation.
“Service, design and simplicity are at our core; when you book a room with us, you’re guaranteed to have an extraordinary experience. From the moment you walk in the door, you’ll feel the special Colina del Emperador hospitality,” the owners say.
The accommodation
The property is an 80s-style Spanish villa which has been updated to the highest standards but still retains much of its traditional charm, with original tiled floors throughout. The accommodation offers four double bedrooms which can sleep a total of eight guests.
Three of the rooms share a bathroom with a double shower, WC and wash basin, in addition to a separate toilet room, while the fourth room is en-suite.
The hosts present a varied breakfast daily which is included in the price of the room and are happy to adapt the food choices based on the dietary preferences of their valued guests. Water, tea and coffee are always offered free of charge and lunch, dinner and even special theme nights can be arranged with advance notice.
Finally, a range of snacks, tapas and drinks are available for purchase on-site.
How to get there
The closest airport to Colina del Emperador is Murcia’s Corvera Airport, just a short drive away, while a trip down from Alicante Airport will take less than an hour and a half by car.
If arriving by car, drive to Cabo de Palos to enter La Manga strip from the south. There is also a passenger ferry, although it only serves foot traffic, that sails over the lagoon from Santiago de La Ribera to La Manga’s Puerto Tomas Maestre, a pleasant 15-minute stroll from the hotel.
Your hosts will also be happy to arrange a pick-up with advance booking.
There are plenty of bars, restaurants, cafés, shops, a pharmacy and bus stop five minutes away from the accommodation.
“Whether you’re travelling alone or with company, our rooms and facilities were designed with your needs in mind. Comfortable and with a bit of personality, each one of our rooms will make your stay at Colina del Emperador easy and fun,” say Therese and Gisle.
