Swimming and running race in the popular seaside village of La Azohía

August 9 Charity “aquathlon” in La Azohía! An ”Aquathlon” event for all age groups is being held on Saturday August 9 in La Azohía to raise money for the Asteamur and Asido charities in Cartagena, consisting of a 5-km walk and a swim of 1 km for those who decide to take part in the main “race”.

The main race begins at 8.30 in the morning and consists of a 2.5-km run, then the swim and then the other 2.5 km on foot, and this is followed by a market and portions of food for competitors in the square next to the church of La Azohía. Other age groups start throughout the morning until 12.00 midday.

The route begins at the bend in the main road by Bodegas Molina and starts with a land section to the tower of Santa Elena before the swim at the fishing jetty, and this is followed by another walk as far as the beach of San Ginés and back.

Sadly, the Town Hall of Cartagena is only publicising the event now, when registration is closed, but you can still come along and watch others do the physical exercise and maybe purchase a commemorative bracelet to support the charities!
