Guidelines for submitting articles to Condado Today
Hello, and thank you for choosing CondadoToday.com to publicise your organisation’s info or event.
Condado Today is a website set up by Murcia Today specifically for residents of the urbanisation in Southwest Murcia, providing news and information on what’s happening in the local area, which is the largest English-speaking expat area in the Region of Murcia.
When submitting text to be included on Condado Today, please abide by the following guidelines so we can upload your article as swiftly as possible:

Attach the information in a Word Document or Google Doc
Include all relevant points, including:
Who is the organisation running the event?
Where is it happening?
When?
How much does it cost?
Is it necessary to book beforehand, or can people just show up on the day?
…but try not to exceed 300 words
Also attach a photo to illustrate your article, no more than 100kb
August 22 to 31 Annual fiestas in the San Javier village of Roda
Partying, music and a variety of food including Full English Breakfasts as Roda honours the Virgen de los Remedios
The annual fiestas of Roda in the municipality of San Javier are held every year in August in honour of the Virgen de los Remedios, with the program of the 2024 festivities having been announced as follows:
Friday August 22
21.30: Latino dance class by Jorge & Sofía.
23.00: Social dance after the class. Don’t miss it and enjoy the disco music provided by IRIS Sonido.
Saturday August 23
21.30: Official opening of the 2025 Fiestas with the opening speech delivered by Phoebe Liddiard.
22.00: Election of the fiestas queen and maids of honour 2025.
22.15: Music and dancing with Trío Acordes.
23.00: Raffle.
1.00: Bread and sobrasada spicy sausage spread donated by Embutidos Gutiérrez: after the election of the fiestas dignitaries cold snacks will be served while supplies last. Drinks not included!
Sunday August 24 (children’s day)
9.45: Classic car and motorbike show from nearby towns. A plate of migas and a drink is offered to all those taking part!
12.00: Holy Mass in the local church.
14.00: A giant paella with a minimal price per portion.
17.00 to 20.00: Children’s activities, time for the youngsters to take centre stage!
19.00: Reggae music played by a local resident.
21.30: Disco music provided by Iris Sonido.
21.30: Dance performance by the local Asociación Cultural Bolero.
Monday and Tuesday August 25 and 26
17.00: Petanca competition organized by the MM2 club from Torre Pacheco. Teams of 3 players and 2 balls each. Register by WhatsApp to 638 519250.
Wednesday August 27
21.30: Fancy dress party with prizes for the best 3 costumes!
22.30: Buns and hot chocolate for all, price 1.50 euros.
23.00: The annual foam party, one of the highlights of the fiestas every year for both children and grown-ups!
Thursday August 28 (International Day)
9.45 to 13.00: Music sponsored by Roda’s Bar.
10.00 to 12.00: Full English Breakfast is served, another of the highlights, an event which last year was attended by over 500 people. The price per plate this year is just 2.50 euros!
21.30: An international dinner, with hamburgers priced at 3 euros and live music provided by the group Velvet.
Friday August 29 (Noche Joven)
21.30: Roda Talent Show! Come and showcase your talent and have a good time! (Book your slot via WhatsApp 683 496128 / 673 813151 or via Instagram @rodasanjavier).
23.00: Come and join the End Of Summer party with DJ Raul (@raulpastordj)!
Saturday August 30
22.00: Music and Dancing with Grupo Destellos.
23.00: The grand raffle with magnificent prizes.
01.00: Migas night, only 1.50 euros per portion.
Sunday August 31
10.00 to 13.00: Children’s fairground attractions at half price.
12.00: Grilled sardines donated by Pescadería El Pavo (symbolic price of just 0.50 euros to be donated to the local church).
20.30: Mass and candlelit procession of the figure of Nuestra Señora de los Remedios, followed by a marching band and a firework display.
22.00: Dance performance by Kimbara.
23.00: Disco music provided by Iris Sonidom and the end of the 2025 fiestas.
PLEASE NOTE
The fiestas committee asks those attending to bear the following points in mind:
USE OF PYROTECHNICS: if you have children sensitive to noise, the rockets fired at the beginning and end of the fiestas may disturb them. There will be fewer rockets than in previous years, and the noise will be loudest during the procession.
TO REDUCE QUEUING TIMES when food is being served please hand in a maximum of two tickets at a time. You can always return for more later! Thank you!
THE FIESTAS COMMITTEE RESERVES THE RIGHT TO REFUSE ADMISSION to anyone who contravenes the spirit of the event, which is organized every year so that people can come and enjoy Roda and its iconic pine grove.
