April 26 La Celestina, Classical Spanish drama in Los Alcázares
A Spanish classic written during the life of Shakespeare at the the Town Hall of Los Alcázares
La Celestina was written by Fernando de Rojas in 1502 with the secondary title "Tragicomedia de Calisto y Melibea" and is recognized as one of the great early classics of Spanish literature, telling a story of desire and jealousy while at the same time illustrating the vast social differences among classes in the early 16th century.
This interpretation of the work is presented by the Colectivo Apócope company in an attempt to bring the work to all sectors of the modern public, and the performance at the Town Hall of Los Alcázares on 27th April begins at 20.00. Admission is free of charge.
