April 12-June 9 Paisaje art exhibition at Alhama Museum
See the work of talented Murcia artists in the extraordinary setting of the Alhama archeology museum
From Friday April 12 until Sunday June 9, the Museo de los Baños de Alhama is hosting an art exhibition of painting and sculpture in its temporary exhibition hall titled ‘Paisaje’ (‘Landscape’), featuring the work of 10 prominent local Murcia artists.
The exhibition allows visitors to reflect on “how each artist projects their own experiences, their gaze, their vision of ‘reality’, which in turn is confused and integrated with that of each spectator,” according to the exhibition curators. “Both, artist and spectator, conditioned by their different contexts (social, cultural, historical...) and their own personalities, historical...) and their own personal filters. It also gives us the opportunity to enjoy the artistic manifestation per se, because the background of each of the creators who show their work allows us to take a walk through the history of art. All of them master the different artistic techniques, with a specifically contemporary approach.”
The inauguration ceremony takes place on Friday April 12, starting at 8pm, and will be attended by the Mayor of Alhama, María Cánovas, and the Councillor for Culture, Heritage and Tourism, Ginés José Muñoz Cánovas. Everyone is welcome to go along.
The ten artists being featured in this exhibition are Almagro, Manuel Delgado, Isabel Guillermo, Hurtado Mena, Luis Marino, Martínez Mengual, Blas Miras, Elisa Ortega, Manolo Pardo and Antonio Rosa Barbero.
They are described as “ten creators with an extensive professional career with hundreds of exhibitions, both individual and collective, prizes, awards, recognitions, permanent works in private and public collections, and who continue to work as they have always done in the solitude of their studios, wondering about everything that surrounds them, motivates them, by a world that has changed in just a few decades, those that they have also lived, the skin of the planet and that is reflected in the landscape of their land, their environment and also in those scenarios perceived in inspiring journeys, observing the natural and cultural heritage to internalise it, transform it, remember it and express it in their works.”
The exhibition organisers conclude, “Approaching the landscape is a way of questioning our position in it, we look for our traces, our past, our future, the relationships that have been established between the members of the landscape. The landscape attains a social dimension by infusing a common identity to the individuals who inhabit it. It is not only the result of the interaction of natural and human factors but also a specific position in relation to it. It places us in a dilemma, a reflection that can be analytical, critical or simply contemplative.”
